About Me and My Loves

About Me and My Loves
Howdy Y'all and Welcome! I have been married to my studly hubby for almost 5 years now; who is an energetic, outgoing, handyman helicopter pilot. We recently made our first big move cross country from Utah to Texas with our now 20mo. old "Rae of Sunshine" Azure. We love experiencing anything and everything and holding nothing back. We love dreaming and creating things of all kinds together. I hope that this blog will help our families back home keep up with our busy life, and maybe inspire some along the way...from family to home, money to food, holidays, travel, photography and crafts. this... this is my life!.... Enjoy.

Ringing in the newyear...stuck in wash!

After visiting our good friends too wish them good luck on the long move and new adventure, we saw this inviting sign to stop and wash our car...so we did! We pulled in and let the auto wash do its job.

All the cycles were working fine untill the final airdry! The door would not open to the front nor the rear. We were trapped. We honked and honked but no one came. Tiara saw a button that said emergency door open. So I jumped out of the car and pushed the button...nothing happened! So I got back in the car and got on our good ole trusty GPS and found the gas station we were located at. It listed the phone number so I called them and told them we were stuck in their car wash. The guy came and pryed open the door and let us out! He did give us another car wash so we could finish the dry cycle. So two washes for the price of one! Luckly the second time the guy was standing by and pulled the door up when the dryers turned on. Happy 2009 almost spent stuck in a carwash!

This is what almost killed me...

Last week I was sitting on the runway with my flight instructor in our helicopter, we had just landed making our call, "Helicopter 38Golf final runway 17" we went in and landed and looked and we were clear. So then my instructor wanted me to try and do a take off with low power. So we tilted the rotor blades forward and started sliding on our skids down the runway to get some speed to lift off, when just as soon as we were in the air we looked up to see an image like below coming at us!!!
There were four lights and a cloud of snow dust...at first I thought it was a snow plow but then we realized it was a leer jet heading straight for us taking off as we were taking off. We called on the radio but no reply from the jet so we hurried and lifted off and luckly we were in a helicopter and we just went off to the right and hovered there as the huge jet went screaming by. We called again on the radio but again no reply. The dumb pilot must not have had his radio on the right frequency.

Lazy day after Christmas!

Who is having the lazy day when the poor old husband is out shoveling the 89 inches of snow!!!

Christmas has come and gone...

Whoever said that Christmas was relaxing?! Well whomever it was never had a family like ours. Well our holiday started at 11am on christmas eve with when brett got off work. We drove to kaysville to my moms new house and had dinner, then went to my sisters house in hooper and played "would you rather" all night, of course until it was time to play Santa. Well Christmas starts at 5am in my family. So we watched our nieces and nephews bask in the glory of excitement of Santa. After about 3 hours of them opening presents (most of which were from my brother-in-laws crazy mom, trying to out do Santa, but failed miserably) We went back to my moms at 10am to eat breakfast. After stuffing ourselves with Christmas quiche and sausage we headed to Providence to be with brett's mom, stepdad and brother at noon. We opened gifts and then the gilbert family arrived at 2pm and we ate more food and opened more gifts. Then at 6pm we headed thru the storm to Preston to spend Christmas evening with the Reeders (where we found out that Brett's cousin and his wife are expecting and they are 6 months along!!! And no one told us!!) we opened more presents and ate more food!! We got home at about 11:30pm and crashed in our bed, thank heavens for the lazy day after Christmas!

What a game!

My brother in law had to let his wife put make-up on him to win the game. Go Geoff! The game was "Would you rather..."

SANTA!!!!!!!!! I Know Him....I Know Him!!

While I was watching Brett fly on Saturday, all of the sudden a huge chopper came in and landed right in front of me. I was kinda nervous as to what was going on because the Helicopter was a Utah High Patrol Chopper. As I was snapping some photos, Santa came out on the hanger with his briefcase and climbed into the helicopter and flew away! Santa's high Rollin, he traded in his reindeer for an AStar.

You want him to do WHAT?!...

So Saturday I chose to go watch Brett fly. It was so cold!! But the sunrise was amazing!! But while I was watching him perform his traffic patterns above the airport, all of the sudden he landed the helicopter and his instructor got out and started walking towards me while Brett flew off!! His instructor Ken told me that he was letting Brett perform his solo flight, FOR THE FIRST TIME! He felt he was ready, and capable of flying by himself! It was nerve-racking, but amazing to see. The first pictures are of Brett preflighting the helicopter, and of the new blue chopper that the school just got in. They are now running patriotic... RED, WHITE and BLUE.

Merry Christmas Charlie Brown...

So for family night on monday we went Christmas tree hunting. When we got to the tree farm, the farmer helped us by showing us some wonderful trees. But none of them were the tree! So he asked what we were looking for... so I told him that we dont have a lot of space for a tree so we need a small tree... still nothing. So I told him, I need a Charlie Brown tree! And voila...
It was perfect! And to let you know how small it is we were able to slip in into the back seat of the jeep with plenty of room to spare.

What a day!

This morning I took an awesome flight...two actually. It started at 7am when I hopped in 7530D with my flight instructor Ken.

We flew some patterns around the airport, I was a little rusty after not flying for about a week and a half. Then we headed south over hyrum dam my instructor threw some emergency procedures at me I had to react to. When then flew back towards the Logan airport and just happened to fly over my house. Ken asked if Tiara was home and I said yes so we flew some low circles over the house and out popped tiara to wave at us!

We then flew back to the airport and landed and my instructor asked me what I wanted to do next and I told him it would be fun to do an off airport landing in the field next to my grandpa Gilbert's house in Lewiston. He said ok! So we headed north at 80 knots and did two circles around grandpas house and then landed just outside their window. Grandma and grandpa came out and took some pictures of me hovering 5ft off the ground. We landed then waved and then took off back to the airport. What a fun flight.

My next flight I was scheduled in 4138G with our chief flight instructor Ed. He was going to check my flying skills to see if I was ready to solo yet.

He drilled me! It was hard and I was nervous cause I wanted to impress him. At the end he complimented me and said I did a great job and that I was ready for my solo flight! So in the next week I should get to solo!! Wahoo!!!

I then went home exhausted after flying for 4 hours! (my total flight hrs are 30.3!) ...on my doorstep I found my new headset I ordered. What a nice gift to come home to. It is the Zulu Lightspeed! I am so excited to fly with it! Below is a picture of me chillin at home with my headset. It has Bluetooth and adapters so I can hook it up to my cell phone and my mp3 player. It has such good sound!

indoor anyone?...

So its been too long since I have played soccer. Ever since I started playing at the age of 4 its been that if I had a week off of practice and games I would come back rusty...but 8 months?! Thats going against everything I stand for!! And now that my knee is fully healed and I am scorekeeping indoor games for some extra cash... all I think about is playing! Some wouldn't dare admit what really goes on in their dreams at night, but in mine I'm chasing my life... a ball. So if any of you play, want to play, or are even just looking for something to do, let me know. Because I'm trying to put an indoor team together for spring session. Games start the first week of January.

Nicknames

I spotted these little blue guys in Preston tonight at the festival of lights. I just had to send this picture to my brother because all his friends somehow gave him the nickname Papa Smurf. I was never given a nickname... How about all you blog readers out there what was yours or what was the funniest one you have heard?

*Cookie Monster*

So when I was in college I used to hide Dr. Pepper under my bed so that my roommates couldn't steel them (I had my own room that NOBODY was allowed in unless I was in it, I like my space and privacy). Well I thought that now that I was married and have shared my bedroom and all my stuff with Brett, that I didn't need to worry about hiding my goodies, unless its that time of the month and I am overwhelmed with the disease of the munchies. But this week I was a victim of treat secrecy.
Brett came home with some Oreos the other night but when I didn't dive right into them he hid them! But I couldn't find them! Then on Saturday I found them, but only ate one. That BTW made one of my fillings fall out, so I didnt eat anymore. So he hid them again! Well sundays are my favorite days to munch so when I asked if he would get me two oreo's while I didnt look where they were. So he gave me two, a second later he gave me the package and told me that I could finish them off... I opened up the package with my mouth watering, to find an empty package!!
Out of the entire box...I ate 3! Somebody needs to work out, and it aint me!

Walk down memory lane...

Tiara discovered my old gameboy! I have lost her attention for ever!

You know its a funny thing the advances in technology. Look how big this thing is... You can't play it in the dark because it has no backlight like todays fancy handheld games. It has no color except two, lime green tint and black is what every game is played in.

So how's life?...

Well Brett and I are nestled into our loving home in Logan and well its safe to say that we have hit a routine in our daily lives.
And its humorous when we I am bombarded with the same question whenever there is a pause in a conversation; or from someone that I have not seen in a while... So how's life?...
Do you really want to know?!
Okay, here it is. Well this morning I woke to find Brett ready and leaving early to work; I went to work where the feeling of my life being on a conveyor belt, kicks in. And the most entertaining part of the day is when 2 of my (nicely put) lazy coworkers got their chairs taken out of their classroom so that they are forced to interact with the children, But don't worry they were given the chance to EARN them back!! After a few good laughs I left work to run to the bank to cash my paycheck before it closed.
I then came home to my creepy neighbor sitting in his camp chair in his garage strategically placed right in front of where I park my car, forcing me to look at him awkwardly as I pull into the driveway and get out of my car to run into my house!
I make it in safely, lock the door behind me and start cleaning my unorganized organized house. Then my, younger brother comes to wash his laundry like he does almost every other week and my good good friend Wendy Jo York comes over for a play date to make bridal shower invitations while we watch ANTM. Then I waste however many hours playing with photoshop, all while my husband studies helicopters and threatens to shoot me because he needs the computer. I give up and retire to bed.
And that is how my life is...

Spin a kid!

So I had some fun with my nephew and neices this weekend! It was a game called Spin-a-kid! They then have to get up and try to run straight....they won't have to polish those floors for a while!
